If you or a loved one is struggling with substance use, it can be tough to know where to turn for help—and sometimes, it can be even tougher to figure out the type of help that’s needed. Not all outpatient drug and alcohol treatment programs provide the same level of support, and it’s important to find a program that’s tailored to each individual’s needs. A customized, person-centered treatment plan can ensure that services are provided based on each person’s personal circumstances. Below, we discuss some of the customized treatment plans available.
How Customized Treatment Plans Work
Each year, millions of people attend rehab or substance use treatment programs, and each of them has a unique personal history, health conditions, and external and social factors that can contribute to their struggle. Customized treatment plans acknowledge each person’s unique recovery journey. With so many different factors contributing to substance use, these plans offer multiple therapy options to address all aspects of substance use and recovery.
Features of Customized Treatment Plans
Anuvia offers a variety of customized treatment plans tailored to each individual and their unique needs. Whether you or your loved one needs a full detox with inpatient (residential) treatment or could benefit from group therapy in an outpatient setting, we have a program that can help.
Assessments
At the beginning of the substance use treatment process, a comprehensive clinician assessment is performed. This assessment involves a series of questions that help gauge the level of substance use, giving more insight into the types of treatment that may be most effective. A drug test may also be performed, depending on the circumstance.
Detox
After a medical assessment, the client may be referred to a detox center—a medically-supervised facility that helps manage and relieve withdrawal symptoms. Detoxing from certain drugs, including alcohol and benzodiazepines, can be especially dangerous—even fatal—if not performed under medical supervision. And detoxing from opiates or fentanyl can be physically unpleasant, making it tough to resist the urge to use just enough to relieve symptoms. Starting your recovery at a detox center can help ease the transition to inpatient or outpatient substance use treatment.
Short-term Outpatient Treatment
Our short-term outpatient treatment programs are intended for those with mild to moderate substance use issues. These programs meet twice weekly and allow clients to explore the various benefits of support programming outside a residential treatment environment. Both morning and evening hours are available to help fit your schedule.
Intensive Outpatient Treatment
Anuvia’s Intensive Outpatient Treatment Programs (IOP) are designed for clients who are dealing with more severe substance use disorders but who don’t require an inpatient level of care. These programs meet three times per week for 12 weeks, with both morning and evening hours offered. Clients can also opt for a Continuing Care Level, which meets once per week for four to six weeks. The IOP allows clients to explore ongoing recovery through 12-step meetings, develop personalized relapse drug and alcohol use prevention plans, and explore their personal triggers for substance use. Anuvia also offers Substance Abuse Comprehensive Outpatient Treatment (SACOT), which is specifically designed for those dealing with severe substance use issues, a history of relapses, and/or those who are struggling with both substance use and mental health issues. By using an Integrated Dual Disorders Treatment model, SACOT works to provide daily structured support—including education, group therapy, and case management—for those dealing with multiple diagnoses.
Residential Treatment
With a 32-bed inpatient treatment facility, Anuvia provides round-the-clock treatment for those dealing with a severe substance use disorder. Stays can range from one to 28 days, during which the client will participate in group and individual counseling, engage in family sessions, and work one-on-one with a counselor to develop a custom aftercare program.
Adolescent Treatment
From the initial assessment to program graduation, Anuvia’s adolescent program is designed specifically for the unique needs of teens ages 12-17 who are dealing with substance use. This program promotes drug and alcohol abstinence, works on decision-making and life skills, and brings families together to provide support for their teen and help them continue on a healthy path.
Frequently Asked Questions About Customized Treatment Plans
How long is treatment for substance use?
This depends on the course of treatment the counselor recommends after an assessment. In some cases, a client might start with detox or a few weeks of inpatient treatment and then move to a 12-week IOP; in others, the client might start with Continuing Care treatment and then move to short-term outpatient treatment. Ideally, the treatment will last as long as the client needs it to.
How much does customized treatment cost?
With the caveat that each outpatient drug and alcohol treatment plan is different, Anuvia offers a variety of affordable options. We accept most major insurance plans, including Medicaid, for most of our services, as well as sliding fees for those who qualify.
How are families included in a customized treatment plan?
Families play a key role in recovery, and Anuvia offers resources for both clients and their loved ones throughout the recovery process. From family therapy to support groups to substance use education classes, these resources can help loved ones create and maintain boundaries, design strategies to reduce triggers, and learn more about the root causes of substance use disorder.
What if a patient needs to take medication for health conditions?
Working toward recovery can be challenging when the patient still needs to take medication—such as anti-anxiety medication or prescription pain relievers—to manage other health conditions. Anuvia’s Medication Management and dual-track treatment programs take mental and physical health into account when designing the recovery plan, working closely with the patient to find a viable path.
